La historia de Pedro I de Castilla, desde que siendo muy joven muere su padre y debe ir aprendiendo a reinar, hasta que finalmente es asesinado por su hermanastro Enrique. Es la historia de un agrio aprendizaje, pues aprende a desconfiar y de ahí a ser un hombre sanguinario cuyo leitmotiv es la venganza. Aprende a desconfiar porque toda su familia sanguínea termina engañándolo de una forma u otra, incluso su propia madre llega a lamentar haberlo amamantado; porque todos quieren su parcela de poder, o llevar a cabo sus venganzas personales a cualquier precio. También es la historia de la lucha de dos hermanos por parte de padre por un trono y por una corona, aunque la lucha de Enrique es más la venganza por la muerte de su madre; también es la historia de amor de Pedro I con María de Padilla, a quien le reconoció su condición de reina una vez muerta, reuniendo a las Cortes para darle esta última dignidad.

En France en 2018, on a compté quatre morts sur les terrains à la suite de chocs traumatiques (Samuel Ezeala, Clermont ; Adrien Descruhles, Billom ; Louis Fajfrowski, Aurillac ; Nicolas Chauvin, Stade Français). Après avoir alerté en vain les autorités sur les risques d'un sport qui devenait de plus en plus dangereux, notamment au sein de la commission médicale de la Ligue nationale de rugby, le doyen honoraire de la faculté de Clermont-Ferrand, Jean Chazal sort de sa réserve dans ce livre choc.
Il explique comment les plaquages répétés et les chocs engendrés par le rugby atteignent les zones les plus fragiles de nos organes, en particulier le cerveau. Il pointe le dopage, notamment l'usage de la cocaïne en semaine (indétectable les jours de match) pour supporter des doses toujours plus lourdes d'entraînement. Il dénonce le manque de réaction de la Fédération française face à ce qui est en train de devenir l'un des fléaux du rugby moderne.
Il propose des solutions pour rendre le rugby moins dangereux. Un livre qui ne manquera pas de faire polémique.
